California Hunter Education
Train2besafe.com
Students have a choice of attending a traditional Hunter Education
course or an "On-Line" course where most of the study is complet-
ed on a computer but still requires a four hour classroom session.
Both courses are taught by California State Certified instructors.
Topics covered include:
Ethics & Hunter Responsibility Wildlife Management
Firearms - Rifle, Pistols & Shotguns Muzzleloading
Firearms Safety & Handling Bowhunting
Hunting Regulations Wildlife Identification
Survival & First Aid Game Care
All of the information needed to pass the course will be provided
during the class. Students are required to attend the entire course
and pass a written examination to obtain a Hunter Education
Completion Certificate. Most courses also include a live fire
exercise with .22 caliber rifles.
In a continued effort to reduce firearm accidents, the State of
California requires all first time resident hunters, regardless of age,
to complete hunter education training or pass a comprehensive
equivalency test before purchasing a hunting license.
The California Department of Fish and Game conducts training
throughout the state. Each year approximately 30,000 students
complete the state’s ten-hour minimum hunter education course.
Statistics show hunter education training is a success.
Courses normally held monthly. Preregistration is required as
space is limited.
Registration for the course is handled by Reed's Indoor Range
Class fee: $20.00 per person for traditional course
$15.00 per person for "On-line" Course
